Happy Thursday!!!
This morning I went to the gym to do a makeup class because I missed bootcamp on Monday. It was great!!! I am seriously thinking of switching to the two a week weights class instead of my bootcamp. Although my hubby did mention that he might like to get back into going to the gym too so that is something we need to consider. I am feeling really great today, on top of the world sort of thing... I have a plan and I see it coming together. I ordered some swimwear this morning for our upcoming vacation and that was fun! I know I have one suit from last year that just won't fit and then there are a few of these two piece things lying around my house that I might be tempted to wear... I have several weeks of high intensity workouts ahead of me before I have the body and confidence to venture out in those. But a goal of wearing a two piece thing isn't out of the scope of possibilities right now. So my workout mantra for the next several weeks is going to be "INTENSITY" Maybe on Saturday AM I will be brave and head out for a running HIIT. Saturday will be a crazy day for me so a high intensity workout in the morning might be just the thing I need. Food is on track and will stay that way. I am finding myself walking into the kitchen at night, cussing at myself (in a good way, I promise!) and walking back out to find something to keep my hands busy. It is a double positive for me if I don't eat and do something productive like fold laundry. YEAH! Today I am grateful for AM workouts, positive energy, blue skies, boiled eggs, pears, possibilities and as always the people in my life. Its a happy day!

Great day today so far.
I hope everybody has an awesome day! Had a great nutritious meal 1 this morning and a protein shake with strawberries and banana for meal 2. Had a great 5/25 cardio this morning for what I am able to do with my back injury at the moment. I have an extruded L5 disc, so very painful and limiting on things. Just wanted to post quick before heading out the door. Have a great day!

Hello All,
I must confess I messed up last night. It was a stressful day yesterday and I had a few jelly beans which rapidly turned into about 300 calories of jelly beans. I didn't have a Right Light because I didn't want the calories, but in retrospect, I would have been better to have the shake. I was very disappointed by this slip, but I woke up this morning and decided I was not going to let this stop my progress and I ran an extra mile at a very challenging pace. I told myself that was payment for those jelly beans. So, the good news is I hopped on the scale after this morning run and breakfast and found that I was at 151, I'm getting very close to the 140's and super excited about it. So, now my motivation is at an all time high!! So Workout - DONE 4 miles, one mile super fast. Nutrition: M1: Right Light with Fruit blended in M2: Oatmeal and Egg Whites M3: Grilled Chicken Salad M4: Forgot my Greek Yogurt I'll have to wait until I get home. M5: Chicken Breast, Veggies and Coucous M6: Probably another Right Light Shake Jonathan and Terra: I'm so glad to hear you guys are mentally in a better place, so am I. I don't know what it is, but I too was feeling kinda iffy and unmotivated. I know we had sickness going around our house and maybe that contributed. Anyways, so glad you guys found your way to a better place!! Everyone else, so good to read your posts and thank you so much, you motivate me every day!! Sincerely, Robin |

I found a brownie recipe that looks awesome but haven't tried it yet. They are made with black beans and all of the reviews say they are delicious. I will post the recipe link if anybody wants it. I also know that a lot of Bill's recipes are awesome for late night meal 6 snacks out of Eating for Life. Those pudding and cheesecake recipes saved me many times in the past.

Gratitude in Action - Day 4
Robin, way to bounce back from the jelly beans!
I hit a wall today. After a strong 5/25 HIIT I laid down for a nap. I woke up 5 hours later and had an unplanned free meal with my son tonight. I'll be back in the groove with nutrition tomorrow. Best wishes everyone. Hal Last edited by halmarshall2309 : 04-19-2012 at 05:49 PM. |

Hey everyone! Well, I got up and got my workout in! I ended up not being able to go to the pool so I just ran here on the treadmill. It is a little difficult to run while watching 4 kids (4 years old, 3 years old, and 2 babies that are 1 year old). I was watching my friends kids while she went and swam. Hm.....well at least I was helping someone get their swim workout in! lol.
I am in Utah about an hour north of St George and I signed up to be a volunteer for the Iron Man! It is two weeks from Saturday (May 5th). I am way excited. Last year we volunteered at a bike station and then went to the finish line around 10:00pm. It was SO inspirational to watch all the athletes and to cheer them on. I have been watching Youtube videos on the Ironman and talk about motivating!!! If you are ever in a slump from training for something....watch one of those videos. Amazing. I was so inspired yesterday I thought about training for a half Iron Man at the end of August. But doing more research, I don't know if this is the right time in my life to devote myself to that. With 5 kiddos (the oldest is 8), it is hard to even get one workout a day in, let alone 2 that you are suppose to do for training. So, I am thinking the smart thing for this year is to focus on training for an Olympic, which was my original plan. ) Man! I have a lot to share today! ) Eating has been clean. I have been REALLY tired, but I am just moving forward. Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow. Have a great evening everyone!!!

Tom's Action Plan for Friday thru Sunday
Overall Notes: This weekend, starting today, I will have a serious nutritional challenge. I'm going on the church's Men's Retreat to a big retreat center in Georgia. Readers may recall numerous times in the past couple of years when I went for a retreat, but was able to get through it with my nutritional plan intact. There's a difference this time. Those previous events were at a small retreat center where the folks in the kitchen were friends and were responsive to my food issues, plus I could bring some of my own food, store it in their refrigerator, use their microwave oven, etc. No so this time. This retreat center is huge. The mealtimes serve hundreds of people (no exaggeration) cafeteria-style, there's no one to be responsive to any special requests such as "I'd like to be wheat-free, please", the health department says I can't come near the kitchen and they don't want me cluttering up their professionally organized kitchen with my little bag of stuff. The place is pretty expensive, too. I was raised by "Depression survivors" and old parental tape recordings in the back of my head are already addressing the idea of paying for food and not eating it (that's all I need - my mother's voice added to the committee-in-my-head). I'll bring some protein shakes and appropriate snacks that don't need refrigeration, but it's going to be a tough weekend, nutritionally speaking.
I'll try to get in a session in the home gym before I leave today - and I'll try to get in my long run of 8 miles while on the retreat (if there is a big enough hole in the schedule and I can find a suitable safe route to run). If I can't get in my run on Saturday, I'll have to do it on Sunday afternoon after I return. Yesterday, my personal chef was out of the house for dinner and I was planning on opening a packet of smoked salmon for my meal, but changed my mind when I realized that I wouldn't eat the whole thing before leaving for the retreat - thus wasting food (there's my dad's voice in my head now). With a last minute decision like that, I kind of "picked around" in the 'fridge for a meal. It wasn't well thought out OR well executed. I found myself very hungry later on and instead of a good and reasonable snack, I ate a bowl of cereal. That's right - I gave access to my system for both wheat and sugar at the same time. Disaster! I felt sick and bloated for the rest of the evening, I had night sweats so bad that I soaked the bed and had to change clothes in the middle of the night, and this morning - well, let's just say that if some natural gas company could figure out how to harness this source, we'd have no renewable energy problems in America. (Too much info?) I hope that all this is not a preview of a weekend with the retreat center's meal plan. Sigh! Did I stick to the food & exercise plan yesterday?? Yes for exercise, no for nutrition (see above) Today’s Exercise: Stretching/Core strengthening routine; LBWO (Lower Body Workout) in the home gym Countdown: 38 days until the Memorial Day Half Marathon in Owensboro KY Today’s Food Plan: Wheat-free & Low Glycemic Index (until I get to the retreat - then it's anybody's guess) Tom |

Today I weighed in and dropped 6 lbs!!!
It's amazing how my body responds positively and negatively to changes. I'm so grateful for Bill, the Transformation process, and this community full of wonderful, supportive people. Getting my mind back in the right place, focusing on my efforts, keeping my WHY in front of me at all times, has really helped me this past week stay on track and push hard in the gym. Heck, I was working out with 50 lb dumbbells the other night and it felt great! I realize the 6 lbs I've lost...I have already lost months ago! LOL But that's ok. This transformation journey I'm own...is just that a journey. Along the way I'm learning what works, what doesn't work, and how quickly I can slip back into "old Jonathan" if I lose focus. Being able to evaluate, assess, adjust, and continue is key. I'm excited for the weeks ahead. I can't wait to see my results blow right past any perceived mental plateaus I "think" I have. LOL Here's to an awesome weekend!!! Meals today: M1 - RightLight M2 - RightLight M3 - Turkey sandwich M4 - Granola bar M5 - Free meal M6 - Protein shake .

Hal, great work on the Gratitude in Action Challenge. Your new photo with Bill looks great. Thanks for your commitment to this program.
Angela, raising five kiddos all under 8 years old must be a Challenge! We have two older teenagers and my family is the greatest thing in my life that brings me happiness and insanity, sometimes at the same time. lol. Great work on your program! Robin, great work with your running. I've always thought running is one of the nicest things you can do for yourself. I bought the yogurt and fruit for popsicles and wii make them Sunday. If it tastes good, it could be a regular evening snack for my family and me, well at least me if my family doesn't like them. |

Wahoo! Doing the happy dance here for my AP Jonathan!!! Wahoo!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Today I'm in a happy and excited place. I have a massive lactic acid burn going on in my quads and hamstrings so any time it sit, I get up walking like a duck. And I'm loving it. I am on the verge of changing my once a week bootcamp class to a twice a week lifting class (at 5:30 am, yikes) because weights are one of the things I am missing in my workouts. Cardio at home is pretty easy but I have struggled to do the weight workouts for the last year!!! Food is on track and will stay that way. Tonight is a free meal since I am working a purse show party at a friends house and won't have control over the food. (Love my purses!!) Today I am grateful for exciting news from Jonathan, lactic acid and knowing what the burn means, new friends on facebook and as always my wonderful family and friends!!!

Hello All,
Just checking in real quick, busy day and this weekend I'll be preparing for my daughters birthday party. 5 screaming 9 year old will be spending the night. I'm thinking a lot of time in the pool would be a good thing!! Working out when I get home tonight and nutrition is on track. Thanks for all the support regarding the evil Jelly Beans. Looking forward to an 8 mile weekend run and keeping things on track so that I can break the 150 mark. Blessings to all of you, have a great weekend. Sincerly, Robin |

Hey friends! Today has been a little crazy...like usual. I love it.
) I got an UBOW in and then after the gym I spent the whole morning shopping for Punk #3's birthday party. It is tomorrow....Power Rangers birthday party!!! I bought 20 foam swords....should be fun! Hopefully no one gets too injured. I might regret that purchase. ) As for eating clean, I am doing good, but a little struggling on feeling cravings for stuff. I think it is because I waited too long to eat. So I am going to MAKE SURE I get my other meals today ON TIME. The key for me is to remember I don't want all that crappy food, I am just extremely hungry so I want anything! I will let you know how the party goes!!! Angela
