Crystal Light, what am I missing?

Drinking water all day gets very boring literally and to me is terrible with meals especially dinner. Besides the minimum calories found in Crystal Light (like 5 cal per 8 oz) is it still counted towards my daily water intake? Also, is there anything in Crystal Light people should be aware of? Basically I would be willing to accept the small calorie intake if it helped me drink a lot more water.

Thanks
LJ

I think you have asked a good question. There are people here who have a lot more knowledge than I do, and I am sure you will get some answers to your questions. In the meantime, welcome to this community! (I am new here, too.) Best wishes! ~Kimberly

chemicals. Sharen calls them Frankenfoods....artificial sweetners. I only use them on my free day and even ths it is rare - BUT I was like you and didnt like water once upon a time, do what you have to do but once you get used to it, I'd start cutting back on the flavours...

It's like Lesley said, artificial sweetners...chemicals. You could always add a squeeze of fresh lemon or lime to your water to change up the taste. Enjoy your day! ~Khriste

It doesn't have to be all or nothing, though. I've found that certain things that I "had to have" at the beginning aren't has important to me now. I think that if it helps you drink more water, use them (maybe just at meals) and see if you can gradually wean off them.

Just a thought. Progress, not perfection, right??

Agreed, that was my point. I used to use them too and now have weaned back to only the ocassional one on a free day. You gotta start somewhere!

I'm the same way. I have to have SOME flavor to keep me from reaching for something sweet since that caffeine addiction runs rampant through me LOL. I might try the lemon or squeezed orange flavor into my water because I have always been a crystal light fan but DO notice it has an overly sweet chemicly taste.

Another option is to dilute the CL even more than suggested, I have done this as well. With the singles I'll use one packet in 1L of water instead of the 500ml as suggested.

I am like you..."hooked" on the crystal light, but I am trying to do more natural with fresh lemons or drinking really cold ice water...did you know the colder the water the more calories you burn to warm it up to body tempurature before the body can process it. Good luck...like I have been reading, it gets easier as you adjust to new tastes.

All-natural, no sugar added cranberry juice with a little lemon juice and a bit of Stevia sweetner is a nice flavored water without chemicals.
Drink up!

If it's helping you get your water down, go for it. However, I would also suggest diluting it more than it says. Like someone else said, I put a packet in a 1 L. bottle of water and it still gives it flavor, not tons, but some and it helps me get more water in. I have also noticed that I don't do it nearly as often now and many times I find myself craving just crystal clear water with nothing added. You'll find that as time goes by you will want it less and less.

Sometimes I go to herbal iced teas unsweetened for a little different drink when water doesn't cut it. The Tazo Passion tea is really good as iced tea. I never have to add sweetener. I'm with the others on the chemicals - normally it's free days only for diet drinks.

I like to use flavorings in my water. You only need a few drops. Ice cold water with a touch of mint or cherry or even vanilla. One of those little bottles of flavoring/essence goes a long long way. I esp like to add a couple of drops of coconut. Just lovely and satisfies my sweet tooth.

Well, in wife's case, she realized that products with aspartame or splenda would give her a bad headache which is in almost all of the packets out there. Just something to watch out for. Good luck!

My favorite drink is one part water and one part ice cubes......

Really.. cwrj81 mentioned a change in mindset. I love to pee. What do i mean by that- My body uses the water inside to flush out toxins within, my kidneys function as should.. and since my body is mostly water, I'm getting more in balance-
