Best Whey Protein for women?

(1) As a female, about how many grams of protein and grams of carb a day should I should be shooting for?

(2) Also, I've read some post on Bill's Right Light shake, but cost is a factor for me. So I was thinking of just buying a tub of whey protein that will last longer but I'm not sure which/what type to get? How many grams of protein and carb should be in it? Do I have to adjust protein shake and add some carb to it like a banana or something?

Thanks alot
Annie

Annie, the number of grams of protein and carbohydrate any man or woman should use in a day depends on your lean (fat free) mass as well as your goals (fat loss vs. lean muscle gain).

If you feel the need to break your diet down into a number of target calories, I would recommend visiting Hussman Fitness. Bill actually recommended this site for those wanting to learn a little more about the science behind Body-for-LIFE. See the section called "How Calories Work". It has some fantastic information.

About the whey supplement, most quality whey protein supplements have few, if any, carbohydrates. If you want some carbohydrates in your shake, there are all kinds of supplements that offer both protein and carbohydrates - Bill's RIGHT supplements for example. Or, you could just blend a banana or strawberries into your shake. I would recommend ordering ANY supplements online. Retail prices for supplements these days are outrageous.

AnyWHEY, the nicer whey supplements have extra goodies such as l-glutamine (or glutamine peptides) and are often much easier to mix. Bill's +Protein supplement looks great. If you are looking for something you can buy in bulk, I would recommend ordering a 10 lb. bag of 100% Whey Gold Standard from Optimum Nutrition. It is a very popular whey protein supplement. Such a bag can be had for $40-$50 online ($80-$100 at your local supplement retailer ) and unless you are consuming massive amounts, it should last you months!

Hope this helps!
