Speak often of inspiration, love, gratitude, health and healing, and how you're transforming and making good progress. The more you DO the more you will. ~Bill |

I am pretty scared right now. For the past couple months I have noticed swelling in my calves and ankles...my Mom's legs do this and she has diabetes...so I am fasting for 12+ hrs and hoping for an appointment in the morning. I first voiced my concern to my boyfriend and he said Honey, you eed to get to a Dr. and have it checked. I said I would rather not know I thnk. He said Im sure my Mom would rather not have known she had breast cancer, but she goes in for check-ups and they caught it early and she has been cancer free for a year. I cried.
I talked to my Mom and she said its probably a good idea...I am at high risk for it. So, I read everyones posts...and Im beside you every step, but tomorrow is gonna be a heck of a day so Im going to say about a million prayers and head off to finish the laundry, shower, and get some sleep. If you felt like saying an extra prayer or two for me I wouldnt mind...

Jeannie, you are in my heartfelt thoughts as you discuss your physical health today with the physician. Diabetes, and the complications that it might present, most certainly can be reversed through the practice of a nutritionally healthy lifestyle and regular exercise. Stick with us kiddo!!!
I will believe for you that this swelling is simply from the massive sodium content that is found in your Cherry Colas, and that this event is simply a wakeup call to assist you in making the healthy course corrections for your life that I know you desire deep within your soul. |

Hi, my Ravs!! Oh, how I hate to see our group dwindling. Jeannie and Tara - I'm so glad you both are still here. This group has been my rock for such a long time... full of inspiration and laughter. I'm sorry that people aren't here more often.
As for me, this is the craziest time of year for me at work and personally. I am overworked and just plain exhausted! I have worked out 3 times this week so far, but not at the intensity I would like. At least I'm moving.... I have conducted two birthday parties - one for each of my boys. They turned 6 and 10. I can't believe how quickly they are growing! I am also planning a birthday party for a friend on Saturday. There are a group of 8 of us going on a winery tour! FUN!! Jeannie - You are in my thoughts and prayers. As someone who deals with a chronic disease (thyroid cancer/hypothyroidism), it is scary. But it's ALWAYS better to know. If you know, you can do something about it and get healthier. If you decide to ignore the symptoms, your health issues could diminish until you can no longer have the quality of life you are used to. And that is not good! I'm so proud of you for going to the doctor, even though you are nervous about what the outcome will be. Please keep us updated. Tara - You are always so positive and inspiring! I smile every time I see you post. Thanks for always being such a role model to me ![]() |

Dont get me wrong...I miss the others too...but for now look at all the love we can lavish on eachother!!
I had fasting bloodwork done (which I was prepared for so I didnt have to wait, I was already fasting) and I get those results in a week. Im a little nervous. Meanwhile, my blood pressure was pretty high, and its usally pretty close to perfect. The Dr. gave me a week's worth of a blood pressure med with a diuretic (I guess since one of my problems is my legs and ankles swelling) so we will see how that goes. I HATE HATE HATE taking medication and anything that is going to need to be long term I cant do--I cant afford it. The kiddos are covered by insurance, I am not. On the happy happy plus side--I DRANK 96ounces OF WATER yesterday!!! And I didnt get started till Noon. I am logging my food (in a notebook, by hand, whoa) and I put little boxes on it that I fill in for each glass of water (I admit, I am drinking water just so I can color in a square LOL) and I made it to 96 ounces! I think Bill's formula would call for me to drink a bit more than that, but I figure 96 is better than the 10 or so I was getting!! I also didnt have any sodas yesterday! That makes 4 days in a week I didnt have soda...and THATS cool! Along with the diabetes check they are checking my thyroid (my Mom has an underactive thyroid),and my blood pressure (yesterday at the office it was 136/94). The visit was frustrating in a few ways...the dr asked me a few times if I was pregnant I cant be pregnant and there have been alot of times lately that I wish I could. So that was emotional. It stung that I LOOK pregnant, thats not why he kept asking, but I looked at my pics again and I can see why people ask me when I am due. I dont like that. They had to draw blood and I didnt know that fasting meant you could still drink water, so I hadnt. About 15 hours without water plus my blood pressure being high wasnt conducive to blood drawing...so they sent me to Julesburg (they have a lab there and I guess a specialized lab tech is better at the difficult ones). Luckily, I remembered that happening one other time when I was pregnant and they said I was dehydrated and had me drink water. So I stopped at the house and drank a couple glasses of water before I went! The lab tech got the vein that had rolled on the nurse at the clinic here, so that worked out too. It was just "Grrrrrrrrr" for a little while yesterday LOLAnyway, my amazing boyfriend is coming through today so I need to get these dishes done, bake him a birthday cake (its today) he can take on the truck with him, and get myself prettied up LOL My Mom took the girls this morning, so Im thankful for her kindness! She even took them to their dental cleanings! I am so blessed to have her ![]() Anyway, I am going now...I will blog tonight I think. Well, you will know if I do, I always post links! TARA--I appreciate your upbeat attitude as well and all your motivation! You are certainly a blessing in my life!! TERRI--I wish I could find the picture again...I had a little quote for my Aunt that read "There is a special place in heaven for the mother of two boys" I will keep looking for that and hopefully I can share it with you soon! I remember I had saved it for her...I have three girls so it didnt apply to me LOL Love You <3

Jeannie - Good for you!!!! Woooohooooo on the water!!! Keep drinking that water and coloring in those boxes!! I am a HUGE water drinker, which has prompted my endocrinologist to test for diabetes multiple times (it runs in my family too - plus, I've had gestational diabetes with both pregnancies). Luckily, so far so good. I hope it is for you too.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Thank you to all the Veterans who served our country. I appreciate all you do! |
