Aches and Pains in the Journey Towards Denver
OK guys, I am getting a bit concern because as my training for the ½ Marathon progresses, old injuries are giving me a harder time.
My cardiovascular conditioning and general strength is great and improving, BUT My knees are hurting a lot!!! I had to cut the distance short on my last 5 mile run and walk most of the way back home. I have to stretch, ice and massage A LOT during the day or the pain during the day walking or going up/down stairs is not fun. I am sorry to sound like a 150 year complaining about aches and pains, but if I cannot run 3 miles, I am not sure how I am going to do the ½ Marathon!!!!
I am not throwing the towel. I am going to pause, and think of a training strategy that will allow me to continue building up my endurance, but reducing the pounding of the runs. I have access to a recumbent bike in my basement. Although I am not very excited about the prospect of pedaling and pedaling without getting somewhere. But at least I will be able to use this alternative when the weather is not good. I'll also dust of my old mountain bike, and I'll try to work with it.
I'll continue to forward and I'll make adjustments as I move forward.

Yoly~ The Denver event is not to hurt yourself getting there. It's not worth it and you have to be smart about it. If you have to walk that is OK. Please be smart Yoly. Take care of yourself..Coach
I'll continue to forward and I'll make adjustments as I move forward. As you know...I know...life is full of roadblocks..we adjust....and move forward!!! YOU WILL DO THIS!!! I KNOW YOU HAVE IT IN YOU!!! (((hugs))) ~ Nichole
Remember you can walk it or do the best you can in Denver!! We just want you there!! So please take care and do what works!!...marty
