Lesson #5 - POPP
Lesson #5 : The Power of Positive Pressure
My Transformation timeline is July 7th - November 10th.
My rewards are strength, confidence, fulfillment & sense of purpose. A true energy source and love and appreciation for all the gifts and opportunities in my life. The reward really comes down to a positive inner feeling. It becomes the fuel to drive action on all areas of my life.
My penalties: simply living the same way. There are lots of positives but the gnawing feeling that there is a warrior inside that is capable of great things is simply not something I want to feel forever.
To add "pressure", some transformation goals are (by Nov 10th):
HEALTH: to be in the 12-15% bf range. To be daily consistent at proper nutrition and rest. To workout 3-4 times a week. To continue to be the student to learn new techniques. Overall vison is a sculpted flexible body full of strength & energy. Like a jaguar. Lean and ready to pounce!
RELATIONSHIPS: to be a better husband. More love, passion and time with my wife. This an area I need to put more effort to. More romance, more surprises.. date nights, hugs,.. For my kids: more time teaching them things like fishing, going to sports games, just playing games. Simply more time. Goofing around. Being a better father. I love my kids and I want to always know I'm like a best bud while still teaching them life skills as they grow into adults. Friendships: my friendships are too surface-based. I need to be more proactive at reaching out and building healthy meaningful relationships. Community: I don't spend near enough time in the community & connecting with others in the world. I will put action to each of these areas so every week, I consider what can I do today/this week to strengthen all my relationships.
UNIQUE ABILITY/CAREER: Over the next 18 week transformation, I will create a model that allows me to bring the best of my abilities to my customers. I will make a major step forward by being proactive in reaching out to the others to help them. I too often sit back and work with just a few people. I will reach out to 100 clients by the end of the year to introduce the system and from that, have 20-30 key relationships to work with. This model will both stretch me and provide a sense of purpose to myself & others. I will take the time to ensure I fully am ability to deliver and coach to the model. This will require blocking time every day.
PASSIONS/EXPERIENCES: I started to learn the saxophone & gave up. Too much practice. I started to learn how to cook and gave up to quickly. Too much start, sputter, stop. I live too much in my same old day to day things. I spend a lot of time reading, outdoors and home but neglect the amazing amount of other experiences out there. My wife especially loves to "live life" and I know would love to have me be more proactive in this way. Over the transformation challenge, I will restart and practice the saxophone every other day; cook a new meal & document it every week; do something new every week and include family and friends where it makes sense. I will make a list of "things to experience" to more fully enrich my life. I added passion to simply feel more passionate about all things I do and experience.
SPIRITUAL: I will get back to starting and ending every day with prayer. I will continue to use God as a guiding light as I ensure I don't get self-absorbed with all the above.
MINDSET/SELF DEV: I will STOP buying books. I have so many and often only get part way through them. I will pick a couple and fully read, absorb and live the key principles. This includes Success Principles, Psycho-Cybernetics, 4 Agreements and Passionate Marriage. Only after fully ingraining key principles, will I look to other sources. I too often purchase on impulse and this "searching for the best book" will stop. Mindset includes simply living in the now - enjoying every moment. If I spend time with my kids while thinking of other things.. then I really didn't spend time with them. Whatever I do, I will fully be in that moment usually all my sensory accuity.

Wow - great post on lesson #5 Dave :<) You can do it! I better get going on my lessons.
