Day 10 of Marathon Training.....I ran in the rain!

A wimpy run today for what was supposed to be my long run for the week but I conquered a big obstacle of mine.... I RAN IN THE RAIN!!!!!!I only did the one lap around the neighborhood...1.3 miles but I did it in the rain!  I also didn't quite make my .5 mile intervals that I had planned on running but I almost made them and I'm fighting a cold/sinus thing so I'm still very proud of my accomplishments today! ...

Day 9 of Marathon Training - Chi Running Method

I did it..I got out and ran despite having issues with my sinuses today.  The weather was too beautiful to NOT run outside! Once again...the ipod didn't want to cooperate.  I was timing myself strictly from my playlist and the ipod went kapooey 2 mins. into the run so I don't even know how long I ran.  I ran my normal 1.3 miles around the neighborhood, though.  It felt good and it actually cleared the sinuses a little bit...

Fighting a cold here....

this is the first time I've been sick since mid-August!  It's pretty minor so far...just swollen glands, uncomfortable swallowing, owie ears and stuffy nose.  Nothing that's going to bring me down for any length of time.  I'm kinda bummed though...we're getting warm weather the next few days and I was looking forward to some good runs!  I will take it one day at a time and see how I feel...I may at the very least get out and w...

Day 8 of Marathon Training - Chi Running Method

OK....now I can say I ran in the rain!!!  Do you know what?  It was BETTER than the stuffy high school gym!  Now that I've got the fear of running in snow, the fear of running in 30 degree weather and the fear of running in rain out of the way there's no stopping me now!  I just have to get over the fear of running in mud!  I don't want my pretty running shoes all messed up!  You should have seen me tiptoeing down my...

HOW to BE THE CHANGE!

I just responded to someone's blog and wanted to record the response in my own blog....Our home is our environment and it needs to be a positive environment in order for it to be "right". It's really funny how decluttering our home transfers over to the transformation process. I love the book "Sink Reflections" by Marla Cilley aka "flylady" -if you haven't read it yet go out today and buy it! She has a wonderful webs...

Time for a new goal #2 for this Challenge....

6 weeks has come and gone which was the deadline for my original Goal #2 and so it is time to reflect a little and set a new goal...As many of you know I have committed myself to running the FULL marathon in Denver in October.  This is a HUGE goal for me and will take a tremendous amount of work since I have never been a runner in all of my life.  I have had Asthma since I was 6 months old and always had a Doctor's excuse to skip gym cl...

Day 7 of Marathon Training - Chi Running Method

I did 1.34 mile loop out and back from my house just now.  31 degrees here and sunny and the fresh air felt marvelous.  Boy do I have my work cut out for me though!  It's definately a different type of workout from the flat track in the gymnasium.  I can only run for about 2 mins at a time and then have to take a walking rest.  I know that will improve quickly as I get used to these type of workouts.  I still can't b...

Day 6 of Marathon Training - Chi Running Method

Day 6 was yesterday..... I decided to do laps on my street since my husband wasn't home from work and I have an 8.5 and 11 yr old.  The laps on my street are each 1/4 mile.  I put on the thermal wear and headed outdoors.  I never thought I'd see the day that I'd say this but I actually enjoyed running in 30 degree weather!  It was much more enjoyable doing laps on my street in this weather than in the stuffy gym on their ...

Day 5 of Marathon Training - Chi Running Method

It wasn't such a good day for training today.  I went after work and cheerleaders were practicing in the gym below us - there just wasn't the same peacefulness that I'm used to when I go in the morning.  My ipod is HUGE and wasn't clipping to my pants very well so I had to hold it which was uncomfortable.  I just didn't feel very focused and relaxed today and so my run didn't go well.  I lost track of how many laps I did. ...

Day 4 of Marathon Training - Chi Running Method

I did 9 laps today - ran 6.  Ran 4 in a row and then had to take a 1 lap walk and then ran 2 more. I did Form Intervals - worked on posture and lean  Improvement!  UPDATE......It's going to be sixty degrees here today!!!  I'm planning on taking the kids to the park and running laps around the park on the bike path/parking lot/street while they play....I mapped it .57 miles per lap! Woohoo 3rd update.....Took the kids...

Day 3 of Marathon Traingin - Chi Running Method

Went up to the track again first thing this morning.  Did a total of 7 laps and ran 5 of the 7.  Ran 4 in a row before I walked!  Woohoo!  Felt good - no pain and once again I could feel myself get lighter as I pulled up on my posture and used my core for support.  Very invigorating!...

Day 2 of Marathon Training - Chi Running Method

I ran at the track again this morning - ran 6 laps this time running 4 out of the 6.  Already an improvement from Day 1.  I could feel myself getting lighter as I adjusted my posture and stood up tall - it was really neat.  I also felt better as I remembered to let my feet be behind me more.  No pain afterward.  It's going to be a matter of building my endurance from here on out....

Day 1 of Marathon Training - Chi Running Method

What a learning experience today was already for my marathon training! I didn't accomplish much during the training but I did LEARN and can apply more knowledge to my next training session. I arrived at the High School right as school was starting so there were a lot of cars and buses to maneuver around and it was a little chaotic to say the least. I got into the fitness center, got my picture taken and was all ready to go.&nb...

Stop the contradictions!

I just want to write a quick blog about this because I'm seeing it happen in numerous places all over the site.Bill said it in the radio broadcast...stop measuring your progress with the scale and celebrate the daily, small victories. For those that don't want to give up celebrating the scale I'd like you to take a look at what you're doing from another perspective.-Mary complains in the forums that she's been doing this for 5 weeks and the scale ...

Bronchitis was a blessing!

I just wrote this in an e-mail to another member but I wanted to share it with the rest of T.com.  For once in my life being sick with Bronchitis turned out to be a blessing in disguise.......My problem has always been Bronchitis throwing me off the wagon.  Bronchitis is an annual occurence for me since I have Asthma and it seemed like whenever I was on a roll and found my groove with my weightloss program that was when Bronchitis would...

Assignment #4 Discover my true self and identity....

I want to fully discover my true self and identity. Doing this will help me to trust myself to branch out and take chances and discover my unused assets so they can do an incalculable service to my family and community and help me live the rest of my life to it's fullest potential. I believe that this second challenge is still about discovery, learning about myself and reaching out to people.  I think there's a lot of buried treasure that I ...
