Action!!!!!

I was breifly frustrated yesterday.  As I was leaving work my boss says since you only have one client on Wednesday do you want to just come in at noon instead of 8.  Another loss of hours.  I had to go in for mandatory training on my day off and now less hours - I guess the hours balanced out but I though of the training hours as some extra hours.   This time back in June I was working 40+ hours now I am working abo...

Testing Day and future plans!

Well I took my test today. I think I did pretty good but it is tough to judge. I have to be careful because I am a little overcritical of Kathy. There were several questions on the test that were never covered in class and to my knowledge were not in our books. Some of the muscles like the biceps femoris are not in the book. Note to those that are learning - biceps femoris is not in your arm it's in the back of your quads (thigh) I mean one of th...

Roadblock reduced to speedbump

I realize that what I am talking about here is a situation relatively unique to me but I wanted to share with my T-friends and family.  As most of you know I had Gastric bypass surgery about 10 1/2 years ago.  I lost weight REALLY fast.  Within 2 1/2 months I lost 50 lbs.  Eventually I lost 130 lbs.  I got complacent and then gained back up to 230.  I found BFL but my fears of failure/dissapointment kept me from reac...

NFPT College Class #7

Completed my CPR certification on Monday last week.  I had pushed my team mate I was buddied up with to complete the Kettlebell research paper and our individual reserach paper for our team.   Our instructor require everyone to research Kettlebells and our individual report was on Latest Trends in Fitness. Well my 'buddy' didn't show up for class.  No surprise but I was wisely prepared.  My kettlebell reserach projec...

Do you realize how beautiful you are??

I had a delightful visit from Jane yesterday.  She has been trekking around the country with the guide of her GPS.  We chatted for over 4 hours yesterday.  She reminds me of someone that is butterfly breaking out of a coccoon.  Spreading her wings and realizing her true beauty. This remind me of so many people on this site.  I have learned so much from so many of you.  I am opening up in areas that I didn't...

NFPT College Class #6

Wow - If I could get the results on my certification test like the results my instructor gives me on my papers I would ace the thing.  I got an excellent note on my Steroids research paper.  Started feeling really tired (almost loopy) lately.  I realized I had not been getting enough sleep.  Up to late trying to do homework and it started wearing on me.  Got to be sure and get my 7-8 hours.  My hubby gets so few...

Pursuit of a Dream

During my recent blog I mentioned that I was in the pursuit of my dream.  The first comment on that blog was - Kathy - What is your dream?Great question - My dream is to help others acheive thier dreams.  I enjoy my current job because I do get to help people but how much can I truly do in 15 minutes a week??    My dream and goal is to be a certified personal trainer and now a kettlebell instructor.  I also want to b...

NFPT College Class #5

This week we had a take home 135 question mid term test.  We had to find the answers in our manual and write what page we found the answer on.  Even if you knew the answer we had to find the answer in the book.  Very time consuming.  I created an upper Body workout for mitocondrial failure using the overload principle.  Can't really use BFL principles.  We are supposed to use the rep and set ranges that are...

RECOMMITMENT

I am excited about the kettlebell certificaiton possibilites and also my personal trainer certification.  Lot's of homework plus I also need to get my CPR certification.  I could possibly have 2 certifications at the end of the class.  NFPT Certification and Russian Kettlebell certification.   The thing I am concerned about is that it it is not leaving me much time to do my Transformation head/heart work and fitness ...

NFPT College Class #4

Class went well.  We had a survey of questions and it was tough.  Got a 99.5  I actually knew the answer that I got incorrect but I unwisely listed to someone else and ended up getting it wrong.  Don't you hate when that happens!  Have to listen to my instinct.   I have a take home test to do.  Our team is supposed to do it together but since my team mate isn't doing his work I will get the job done.&n...

NFPT College Class #3

Well I got the core routine done.  It's more classic floor exercise.  One of the other teams did mostly weight exercises.  These two guys are fighters.  My team mate didn't do his assignments again.  I guess I will just do the workload and make sure it gets done.   I think he is just doing this class for personal enrichment. We were finally able to get in the gym and then the tough part came.  Coach had us ...

Beautiful Day

I was a little down earlier in the week.  Frustrated with the destruction and havoc caused by Hurricane Ike and I couldn't help for a while due to being ill.  Today I got up bright and early (actually dark) and helped serve food at the shelter since it was my day off.  I know I should probably study but I will fit that in this week.  The food they brought us was a little disappointing.  Mostly cold danishes and ...

NFPT College Class #2

Had my second class today.  I am trying not to worry and just work hard.  There is just so much to learn.  We had an assignment to present today.  Turns out my partner just read the chapter last night and didn't even do a report and wasn't ready to do a presentation.  I had summarized our chapter and created a handout for our classmates.  I was kind of embarassed to see all the typos.   Apparently...

OMG - Class Reunion Planning time!

My stomach is all in knots.  Why does thinking about a high school reunion do this to me?  I haven't seen many of these people in almost 30 years.  They are having an organizational meeting on Wednesday.  I had volunteered to help with the reunion.  I thought it might make me a little more comfortable about going to the reunion.  Now I am panicking.  The last reunion I went to someone said something that up...

First Class

Oh my gosh - This is going to be a tough class.   I really like this instructor.  He is serious about having us trained and at the top of our game when we take our test and start as trainers.  He is a Master Trainer with NFPT so he teaches all the classes.  I know one of the classes I am interested in is Sports Nutrition.  Some of you may know that I was interested in one time in becoming a Dietitian.  ...
