Tranformation Notes - Strength of Transformation

blog_46680.jpg

If you have been following my blogs of the last week you know that things in my life have gotten a bit 'interesting.' That continues to hold true. The weight loss center has cut my hours considerably which allows me to be free to pursue my interest in personal training. The current gym I am working at has a problem in the communication dept. Example: I get a call from 'Bob' at 10 a.m. telling 'Oops I forgot to call you and tell you I scheduled a client with you 10:30 this morning'. Unfortunately for 'Bob', I am training for the half marathon and I am at least a mile from my car and not dressed for work. Let's just say I was supposed to do 6 training sessions. My 2 regular people had emergencies and the others were scheduled or double booked with another trainer without me going notified. I have text and called my manager over the last week and have still not heard from him. Obviously a great level of professionalism at this establishment (Note a wee bit of sarcasm) Perhaps this is the norm in the fitness industry???

The seriously reduced hours at the weight loss center and the slow progress in getting clients at the gym seriously affects our budget. It will delay some of our plans, such as buying a house, for the time being. We had already had to push the plans back due to the industry in which my hubby is employed. We are very conservative financially. Everyone says buy a house now – interest rates are down blah!blah!blah! We are going to make a big down payment. We are only going to buy what we can afford. We are not going to end up on the list of foreclosures and bankruptcies. I LOVE DAVE RAMSEY! I think his books should be required reading for everyone!

My last few blogs have been about my cool fortune cookie last week. Well on my last free day I debated the fortune cookie because I do not know Fortune cookie etiquette. If you have a really good fortune does a new fortune cookie supercede the previous fortune? or do they compound? Can you tell the Chinese good has been prevalent on my free days lately???

Last week's fortune - You will soon be confronted with unlimited opportunities

This week's two fortunes - The courage to be great lies deep within each of us

and A dream you have will come true.

All pretty awesome fortunes. But although fortunes are cool they are sort of like horoscope - know that these will all come true because I will MAKE them happen and I know that I have courage where once I was timid and afraid. It was there but I had to find it.

I made a
decision, and this is supported by my husband, to pursue working elsewhere. I am following my dreams and goals! I will continue to take care of my small amount of clients at my current gym until things pickup elsewhere. I always look at the things I have learned along the way. At the weight loss center I have learned about motivational interviewing. This help with coaching people toward healthy habits. On Tuesday I took a coaching class. Many people think coaching is about telling people what to do or being the expert. In reality coaching is about helping people find the answer. Many of us have the answers but we have trouble finding the answer. Coaching is about interacting and asking questions that help the person find the answer and along the way it actually helps build their confidence and self-esteem. Frequently doubts, fear, low self-esteem cloud us from seeing the answers that are already within us.

One of the interesting things about the gym is that the manager and sales guys do the fitness evals but they never give them to the trainers. I have even had people just walk up to me and trained them on the fly. This has given me quite a bit of confidence in my abilities.

Once I decided to pursue other endeavors I got creative. I interviewed with a big box gym yesterday. I probably will not know for a week or two. I actually experimented and did a mini-blog on Twitter and actually got a response. The gentleman that contacted me owns a bootcamp call Transformation Boot camp - Like that name! He is looking to expand his personal training in my area. We have been doing a little phone tag. Hope to talk to him tomorrow. He saw my tweets about T.com and my signature on my e-mail and actually checked out my Transformation profile yesterday.

At the weight loss center some of my clients are training at a studio and the mentioned me to the owner. I now have his card and I will also be checking in this lead tomorrow.

My husband started seeing all these opportunities and he is now even comfortable with me starting out on my own. I have a lot of possible connections in the area with my gastric bypass background. I could contact the offices of the surgeons in this area. I have a pretty good background knowledge of bariatric surgery and all of these people need to be exercising and eating properly.

Lots of possible opportunities are presenting themselves. Because of this Transformation process I am not held down due to fear I am open to a whole new world and way of thinking. I see the possibilities in everything.

I was talking to one of my t-friends this afternoon. She has seen my journey and she was commenting about how different I am just from February when I had some issues with another gym. Believing in yourself and your goals and dreams - even when times or tough - especially when time are tough - you know you have become a truly transformed person.

My two favorite things on are helping other people and getting a new friend request!

Have a wonderful Independence day weekend!

Kathy- possibilities are endless. You have made significant changes in the last year. But I believe you will be making even more significant changes tomorrow and in the future. Good things happen to good people and that is you. Good luck, but with your attitude you don't need luck because you are so ficused and will succeed in all you do.

Ms TNT!!!! Wow! What a blog! A few notes: I love Dave Ramsey, too! I'm actually a Real Estate ELP for him in the Killeen, Texas area! Knowing about real estate, you should get a place before Nov so you can cash in on the $8,000 tax credit if this is your 1st home (or first in 3 years). Also, with the job situation, if you're actively SEEKING opportunity, it will be everywhere in abundance. Things will work out for the best--even if we don't know what 'best' means. This could be a great chance for you to get Entrepreneurial, as you have a FANTASTIC story and a real passion for the work you're getting into. Great job, Kat (by the way, I'm going to call you Kat--I hope you don't mind ;0)!!!

Kathy, things are really coming through for you. I was so excited for you just reading your blog because I can feel the endless possibilities for you in training others--especially those who have had gastric bypass surgery--and connect with them. There is a whole new world out there for you to pursue. Go for it. And, it is so cool your husband is supportive. I have not read Dave Ramsey's book, but I will look into it. We definitely need to improve it. Have a great and safe weekend.

Kathy, this blog is awesome! Most of us have either been through a recent layoff or are waiting for the shoe to drop. Fear of the unknown can stunt our growth. You are really living the transformation ideal when, as in Bill's txt the other day, look at what other people consider to be barricades and turn them into bridges. I think you'll be a very effective and empathetic coach. You go girl!
