summer challenge 2012

The summer challenge brings a renewed sense of hope to the season. The past couple months have been rocky for me, so I need this. I struggle with the emotional side of transformation more than anything else. Yikes! The people closest to me have a keen ability to strike closest and often

Hey, Len! How's it going and how's the new job doing? Hope you're all settled in by now. Looks like everyone has left for FB. I miss the daily threads, it's all one long one over there.. Check back in, you are missed. ~ Larry

Hi Len. Bobo and I touch base from time to time. I saw you over in Team Phoenix. I hope you are doing well. I ride too. I just got a trainer for myself. I am currently getting ready for the El Tour de Tucson (this will be my 4th time). Wow to ride across country. That amazes me. Take care ~ Jill

Hi Len, when is your 50? and Where? What is your special motivation this go around? I know it was million pound guy ... Have you got a focus like that this time?

Oh ... author is Esseltyn (sp)? You can find it through Reverse and Prevent Heart Disease or heartattackproof.com ... I think the book is $9.00. He can even e-mail he doctor. My friend did and the Dr. Esseltyn got back to her and they worked out a program. She is completely blood work healthy and heart stong now.

Len, Prevent and Reverse heart disease is a good gift for your family member. This heart surgeon has proven cases and they ALL have good outcomes as long as the person follows the regiment. The time is now while he is in the "critical" thinking stage. Complacency will come as time passes and he gets back to his old thinking. :-)

Great job on that long bike ride in the heat. Yes, I agree with you it is doable as long as we take the precautions of drinking water ... Must stay hydrated and also concentrate on our health. We know our true limits :-) Have a great day!

Len, I am an individual representative for Silpada jewelry. They are a corporation that has sold Sterling Silver jewelry for over seven years. :-) I absolutely love gems. I've always been interested in how stones are formed and it takes to create a finished product. If your ever in need of a special gift, let me know ... I just love collecting different works of original art that can be worn. Fun stuff. Diana

Len ~ You have bene setting a great example. I apologize for not doing my part. As you have posted, it all starts with the small stuff. We just have to be consistent in those actions all day long and not make it more difficult than it has to be. Thanks for all your support. It means a lot. ~ Bob

Doing favors for strangers ... random acts of kindness. Love it. We should always be seeking out opportunities to bless the lives of those around us in whatever way we can. Often times a kind word, a caring smile or a simple gesture of appreciation can turn someone's day from sour to sweet. Have a great weekend Len.

I Am

I am 56 years old. In 2005, my twin sons and I rode cross country on our bicycles. Since that time I've felt the tremendous weight of blessings that I have. My four children are smart, funny, creative, and caring. I have a 33 year marriage to a good woman, our house is paid for, I am healthy, and we have freedom. Despite these obvious blessings, I struggle daily to find a new, meaningful career, and that magical thing...happiness.. Exercise and activity ( and all those blessings) have saved me from giving up. I need to do this challenge to build myself up physically, but mostly emotionally. I pray that the challenge will lead me toward my purpose or a career that I can love.I genuinely care about fitness. Obviously, I want to be an example to those around me and to increase my own sense of well-being. But, I would also like to inspire those in the challenge too. I really want to help those who are struggling like me to feel good in their own skin. Finally, another great blessing in my life that inspires me is the privilege to donate blood. I discovered early on that my blood type is O-negative, and I'm a universal donor. How cool! This blessing has motivated me to stay healthy and to be continually thankful for the opportunity to share in this way. Fifteen gallons and counting.

My Favorite Charity

Donating blood

To me, Transformation Means

For me, transformation means becoming the best version of myself that I can be. This means living daily with my signature strengths. It means, most importantly, finding the road to happiness and traveling down it. It would be nice to take a few others with me.

My Goals

Redefining myself is my goal, leaving the broken parts (lots of them) behind and building something new and better.
~define myself by my future, not the past
~find a sense of mission in life
~simplify and focus my actions
~apply my strengths to life
~live in a win-win style
~pursue virtue
~be a positive example
But, being that person who makes a difference in others' lives, that's the real prize.

My Intentions

I intend to find emotional stability in an unstable environment. Very hard.
I intend to reach my physical goals of 170 pounds or less, 34" waist, lean, strong body, and sense of well being.
I intend to map out and travel the road to happiness.

Who I'd Like to Inspire

I want to inspire my wife to create a better life for herself and lose weight. My entire family and circle of friends are not geared to fitness or personal improvement. It would be great to influence some of them to trust in the ability to positively change. On T-Com I hope to inspire many others by being a positive force for them. Really though, I want to inspire myself to rise up, be courageous, and be what God has intended.
