Assignment 3 2010 Challenge

After careful consideration, I’ve become aware that my lowest level habit—the one which will most interfere with my future health and happiness is:The ability to justify making a bad choice - most of the time it is to have a glass of wine on

Hi Edie, thanks for stopping by. Yes, I love kayaking on Town Lake. The picture you saw on my FB page was taken a year ago this month on Town Lake. Yesterday was nice, but I was inside working all afternoon - actually, I was spending time doing professional development study and work. Di you get outside and enjoy the weather?

I Am

Hello Everyone. I am 43 year old gal from the great state of Texas, married to a wonderful man and have two boys - ages 14 and 187. Also sharing our home are two four legged children - a St Bernard named Baxter and an English Mastiff named Cher. I might have to include some of the stories in my blogs as there is never a dull moment with these two. I have been a part of Body for Life for the past three years, successfully completing two separate challenges. Although I have been pleased with the results my struggles have been keeping with the principles and truly changing for life. At least that is what I thought after my first challenge in 2003. I just completed the last challenge of 2008 for BFL and am continuing on and will start this challenge on 1/1/09!

My Favorite Charity

American Heart Association - in memory of my Dad.

To me, Transformation Means

To me transformation means changing the habits that are too easy to fall back into. Especially when you have family members that don't really want to participate with you. I know that when I eat clean I just feel better! And looking better on the outside is an added benefit, but it really has to start inside as well. As we all know, you have to be mentally ready for the challenge and if you are not, well you just won't be as successful.

My Goals

My goal for this challenge is to lose at least one size and lower my body fat percentage to the acceptable for my age/height. I am also Hypo-Thryoid for the past 13 years. Losing weight has been a struggle for me and even more challenging. I have been on high blood pressure medication for the past three years. My hopes are to eventually get off of the medication, but having a family history of high blood pressure, it might not be possible. Knowing my family history of blocked arteries, and high cholesterol, I know that I have to make changes if I want to live longer. Both my Grandmother and my Dad died very early (about 64) from heart disease. I have a goal to be able to run again. I am hoping that once I lose some more weight (at least 20 lbs) that I will be able to run with out pain. I have an old knee injury from hyper-extending my knee playing basketball in high school, and added weight has made it painful at times even to walk.

My Intentions

Who I'd Like to Inspire

I am hoping that with my commitment to this new challenge my husband will want to join me. He was very supportive on my last challenge, and to be honest.. I think he is dreading me starting another challenge as it limits what we do for meals. lol I also hope to inspire my kids to make good choices and begin a lifetime of fitness and being in shape and feeding their bodies with the right things.
