Always do your homework!
Last week was a heavy homework week, and I spent all weekend playing catch-up.Yesterday when I was in my Composition class, she split us into groups of 3. We were to discuss answers to questions out of our Norton Sampler Essay book. The things was, this assignment wasn't in our syllabus, or on our lesson plan. (it was something she assigned last week in class.) As we were settling into our groups, she noticed a student that only had a legal pad with him, nothing else. She asked him, "Where is your homework"? His response, "I didn't do it", then she asked the student next to him, and his repsonse was the same. She slammed her book on the podium, and said "Whoever did not do your homework, raise your hand." About 5/6 of the class raised their hand. "Ok, all of you students need to get out of my class, and do not come back until next week, and that is only IF you completed your homework!" My chin hit the ground when student after student left the room, I felt really bad for the girl next to me, she looked as if she was going to burst into tears at any moment. After all was said and done, there were only six of left. (I thank God, I was one of them!) She stated "Those kids think they just lucked out by getting a free pass out of class, little do they know, they are absent!" Ouch! Since this class only meets once per week (a blended class) if we miss more than 2 classes, we will be dropped from the course!
Feeling really good this week, half my student aid was paid out, and I got myself a spiffy new lap-top! I'm dropping a few pounds, and I feel a sense of peace settling over me. Aaaahhhhh.

I give you an A+! You have a lot going on...way to keep it all in perspective. Sonny
Wow! I would report that teacher at the end of the quarter. Some teachers should not be teaching. Glad you kept your cool! Chris
I have missed your blogs, know you are super busy...but I love when you share! Thanks.
WOW....seems like there would be a better way to deal with the class. Great job doing your homework. - gav
Yikes! Good for you for staying on track and doing transformation and your own homework. While I understand the prof's frustration I would have a hard time dealing with such behavior and toxicity! ~ Andrea
You must be at Bobby Knight University!! Though I must say I sympathize with the prof in dealing with a lot of entitled students... but not her method. Hope you have a great day and continued PEACE!! Sherry
I'm at a loss regarding that professor, but I'm thrilled that you're feeling that sense of peace. You're on a wonderful path, and I feel incredibly blessed that you're sharing it with me!
Not only am I so glad you did your homework!, I am so glad that you are finding a sense of peace settling over you and that you are feeling really good. You're wonderful! Enjoy the day. Love, Jane
I am so glad you are finding peace Nicole. Good for you on losing some pounds...I think you must have sent them this way, what do you think? Funny, and not, story about the homework. Yikes! What a professor! Hope you are loving your classes. How is algebra going? I love math. sandra
