I was around when the pet rock was born! I remember them being sold at the malls(Macy's) in a box with straw and beadie eyes. That doesn't sound like you though. I' m hoping that you are going to become THE ROCK by which your family will moved to follow your example. You have done the right thing by coming to Tcom. Please take some time to fill out your profile page and let us know a bit more about you. We are all interested in helping each other. It is the "Law of Reciprocity" . Stay connected and you will find that your life will be changed right before your family's eyes. Dan

I Am

46, 6'4, 285 pounds. My family is what I care about above all else. I want to do this to make myself healthier so I can be here for them in the future. The thought of possibly not being here to enjoy my grandchildren scares me and it isn't something I want. I want to take control of the things in my life that I can control and learn to let go of the things in my life that I can't control.

My Favorite Charity

Make a Wish Foundation

To me, Transformation Means

Transformation is the ability of an individual to totally and permanently redefine who they are from the inside out. Transformation isn’t just change because change can be temporary, though transformation does require change to be effective. Instead transformation is the complete and permanent recreation of a person to the point where who they were prior is no longer who they are now. I believe transformation is as much a spiritual change as it is a physical one, and as such a true transformation must encompass a foundational change to an individual’s core beliefs regarding who they are, how they value themselves, and what is truly important to them.

My Goals

I want to redefine who I am. I want to get down to about 230 pounds and only have about 13 or 14 percent body fat. I have never been the athletic guy who played sports in high school and I’ve never been in great shape but I want to get past this and become the person I’ve always wanted to be, both inside and out. I want to be able to wrestle with my boys and not be out of breath and I’d like to be able to spend more quality time with my wife. I’ve never been the greatest at telling her how much she means to me but they say actions speak louder than words and I want to live long enough to show her how much I love her.

My Intentions

My intention is to make a lifelong change to who I am. I want to make (and keep) a commitment to myself to always be the best person I can be, even in the face of adversity. I intend to shed the weight I’ve gained as I’ve aged, but I also want to purge myself of the attitudes I’ve developed which have driven me to this point in my life. I currently have chronic high blood pressure, GERD, and I get frequent migraines which, I believe are all a result of the many negative inputs in my life. I realize that if I want a different output, I need to change the input.

Who I'd Like to Inspire

I hope that my success will inspire my wife to make similar changes in her life, though she is already moving in that direction. However, I have a brother and one of my sisters who I hope to inspire to make positive changes. As their older brother, I’m hoping that I they can come away from my experience with a “if he can do it so can I” attitude. I hope my success would also inspire my four kids to strive for their dreams. They are young enough that they aren’t in the process of redefining themselves, but instead are building the foundation of who they are going to be in adulthood. Good habits now may prevent them from ending up where I am now.
