Thanks to Mick, who posted this on FB! It's got some amazing reminders! Susanna12 Things Happy People Do Differentlyby Jacob Sokol of Sensophy“I’d always believed that a life of quality, enjoyment, and wisdom were my human birthright and would be automatically bestowed upon me as time passed. I never suspected that I would have to learn how to live - that there were specific disciplines and ways of seeing the world I h...
My husband recently had a colonoscopy as well as a follow-up endoscopy. Last night, we met with his gastroenterologist to discuss the results which were "you have celiac and you must go on a gluten-free diet."Now you may think this is a shock but my husband was first diagnosed with celiac over 12 years ago. At that time, we followed a gluten-free diet and my husband's health improved. Prior to being diagnosed, he'd lost a ton of weight,...
Wow, has it really been 3 months since I blogged???!!!??? YIKES!Well, I'm back after a little hiatus and it really shows how not being connected or staying with my routine has affected me, both physically and mentally. (and this is not in a good way)But, I'm back and ready to tackle this HHC and actually finish it this time!My other BIG goal is to make sure these daily actions become life-long habits, just like brushing my teeth. It's not easy, a...
Last night, I met w/my psychologist and we had a discussion on my procrastinating tendencies. I've been procrastinating most of my life so it's not something that I can just easily turn off. I wish that "just do it" would come naturally to me, but I know that I'll have to work at it the rest of my life. I've found that when I make a weekly chart for myself, I am more able to focus and get more (maybe not all) of the things done on my li...
I know that life is full of ups and downs, highs and lows. It's just part of the game. SInce I found T.com, I've learned how to get back up from my lows and downs and get back up on that horse and continue to move forward as I travel on (and enjoy) my journey of life. The "problem" I seem to be facing is not getting back up when I fall, but just how to stay on this the course without all of these slipups. I know slipups happen, but the s...
Bill mentioned both last week and also in last night's webtv show that he's extending the last date to start the summer challenge as the 27th of June and I am taking him up on it. I will start today with the summer solstice! I have let my bad habits slip in. Like my friend, Debbie (amazon12) has mentioned, I've had more BLTs than I should have! (That's bites, licks, and tastes! Gotta love that!) And I have not been consistent with workouts, even ...
Wow, it's my week 4 already? Boy, I think I let a week or two go by with not doing enough "work" to stay consistent. "Today is a new day and the start to a brand new week." How often do I hear myself saying that only to slip as the week goes on?So, I'll say it again and I just made my weekly chart, which I didn't do the last two weeks. I really think it helps me stay on track! I am off to a good start already; ate a healthy br...
Here's my chart for the week. It really helps me stay on track with food and meals. Who would have thought that planning ahead makes SO much difference?!If you want to see it bigger, here's a link to my photo of it:http://www.transformation.com/viewPhoto.php?fileID=92945If anyone wants a copy of my chart, you may send me a message with your email address and I will send you one. It's a Word document that you can edit to suit your needs.Susanna...
So, this challenge, my GOALS are:1. I vow to create my weekly chart, like the one I posted yesterday, EVERY WEEK! This chart really helped me remain focused WHEN I CREATED IT. Again, if anyone wants it, I'll gladly send it to your email (you can send me message w/your email in it and I'll email it to you.) The first time I set it up, it takes a little bit longer then succeeding weeks, but once it's all filled in, you can either keep the meals, ex...
Monday morning, I woke up to the news that Osama bin Laden had been killed by our very own Navy SEALs. Many people around the country and around the world were celebrating. For me, I had different feelings, and they weren't ones of celebration. Instead, it brought back a flood of memories of that sunny, Tuesday morning of September 11, 2001 and the days that would follow. My family and I resided in downtown NYC and lived through the WTC attacks. O...
I just joined a group of fellow artists who live in my town and the neighboring town that was started up about 6 months ago. It's called ARTsee. (I'm not sure where the name was derived from, though) I went to my first meeting last night and met about a dozen of the members. We met in an old historic farm house building that our town purchased and renovated to be used for the arts! How cool is that? Here's a pic of the farmhouse w/the restored En...
We woke up this morning to snow! We've got almost an inch right now and it's coming down hard in big, white, fluffy flakes! It is beautiful at the moment, as all the trees are covered with a layer of white. It's grey out, though, and I know that it won't last, as it is supposed to get warmer and turn to rain. It'll all wash away, I'm sure. Below is a photo! I heard that the Poconos (where our cabin is) will get at least 1-3 inches. It's higher in...
I am at my cabin/house in the Pocono Mts of PA this weekend with my two BFs from high school. One, who I've known since 2nd grade! We haven't seen each other in over a year. And before that, it was a 4-year gap. When we got here on Friday, the temp had gotten to the high 60s. But on Saturday and today it's only in the mid 30s to low 40s. At least the sun is out! Did you all see the supermoon last night? It was amazing! We have had a wonderful time ...
Use these 6 steps to help pursue your "to do" list and personal objectives.1. Identify and prioritize your most important, most pressing task or project.2. What is the first step you can take to meet your objective? By defining this step you'll hone in on where to start the process.3. Time/Schedule. Declare your own time frame of when you will start. Pick the earliest time possible. If you use a calendar, make it visible. Make an appoin...

How do I feel better about my life?1. Think of your "goals" as "wishes for a healthier or better version of yourself". Focus on up to 1 or 2 goals at a time.2 Build slowly and safely. Don't overdo it, because of the momentum... overdoing it, especially early on, might put your momentum at risk, which will defeat the purpose.3. Imagine yourself at the end point, how it would feel to have accomplished your goals and fulfill your...
Today, I attended the memorial service for my high school classmate who just passed away from an extremely aggressive pancreatic cancer at the age of 45 (7 weeks from diagnosis to her passing). Her father (as well as her brother and a few others) gave a speech and one of the things he said was that "taking responsibility for your actions was something that Cheryl (my friend) held near and dear to her heart." I was so touched to hear thi...
It's good to be back to "normal" schedule this week. My kids had last week off from school and I need to learn how to adjust to changes in schedules so that it doesn't throw a monkey wrench in my plans. Ah, yes, I said it - PLAN. Plan ahead is the name of the game for me and I just have to do it ahead of time!I am looking forward to getting back in gear. I am excited to be meeting a new T.com member for lunch on Wednesday (Lisa - lisavo...
A high school classmate of mine was recently (January 13) diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Through a blog her friends and family set up, I have been getting daily if not twice- or thrice-daily updates on her progress, or should I say, progression. Even though I haven't seen her since our high school and college days, I have gotten to know her again just through reading these posts posted by her friends. After college, she went on to become a succ...
