Transformation Challenge 2010 - March 21, 2010 - 5K Goal Done!

Happy Sunday Morning!  Well, I just got back from running my 5K with the students at my school after suffering with an elephant on my chest all week.  It was a beautiful morning, my husband and I were able to walk to the race because it was across the canyon from my house.  It was fun...

Hey BJ, thanks for stopping by my last blog post. It is a constant process, this, and balance - always my nemesis - is one of the struggles and one of the blessings, I think. I've learnt SO MUCH already, excited for the rest! Keen to see how awesome you're doing on your journey. Cheers!

You were one of the first people who commented on my profile. Apparently you're also my mom's (Cheryl4u's) friend. I'm just getting started on this transformation thing. Thanks for the words of encouragement, ~godzgirl

Thanks BJ for stopping by and commenting on my blog. I do feel internal changes happening but they are slow. I have to remember to be patient with myself, I didn't pack my baggage overnight, so it will take time to unpack. I do feel better than I have in 12 years and for that I am thankful. Hope you are doing great! ~Lisa~

Hi BJ--WOW, you've been sober 21 years? That makes you a HERO!!!! Yes, that was our doggies at the Denver conference--our sausage brigade! They will be at the Dallas conference too. Wish I could include them in the 1/2 marathon--but no doggies allowed :(. Oh well. Keep up the great work! Wish I knew your secret to staying sober....Love Jenny

Hi BJ - Thanks so much for you very thoughtful post on my assignment #3. I'm glad there was something in there that touched you. It was a tough one to get my mind and heart around...but in a good way. I'm clear that I want to carve out a different path for my life story. Just need to get some more clarity on the source of the issues so I can make some lasting changes. GREAT JOB on your very honest profile and your hard work! Keep it up, girl! Greatness unfolding, no doubt! Take good care, Heather

I Am

My name is Bobbi Jo and I am grateful that I am an alcoholic - I have been sober for 21 years and have discovered a world beyond my wildest dreams that only gets better with each passing year! I care about changing the world and being the change I would like to see. I care about children - passionately - their rights to a free and appropriate public education. I care about my family - my husband Rick and son Jon who is in Oregon going to college. I care about my animals. I am a woman who is constantly changing, constantly growing, I learn from my past and move forward a stronger, better human being.

My Favorite Charity

Autism Speaks

To me, Transformation Means

My transformation purpose is to directly align myself with God's will and be available to serve Him in whatever situation I am presented with. Ihave a responsibility to share what I have been so freely given. My health and weight have been an obstacle that have trapped me in my own little world. Transformation means breaking free, becoming healthy so that I can have an impact on those around me, a positive impact. My transformation purpose is to align myself with God's will for my life - not trudge in darkness. God is everything or He is nothing .. .to me He is everything!

My Goals

1) Every morning I spend time in prayer in meditation spending time aligning myself with God’s will for my life. I am setting goals for the day which involve not only myself but the people around me and setting aside time to be of service to others.
2) I am joyfully spending time with my family – specifically my husband, and my friends – I am entering the classroom with a positive attitude on a daily basis because I am aware that is God’s will for my life. I am present and available and not caught up in my head.
3) I'm honoring my physical health by properly exercising and nourishing my body, as well as giving it optimal amounts of rest so it can continue to recover and renew each day. Just going to keep this one as written because it nails it!
4) Confident that I am well on my way to a complete physical transformation – I have finally dropped 25 pounds and can feel the difference on my body frame – it is true I can lose weight, I will make it to my ultimate destination. My body fat will have decreased and I continue to not take asthma medication or medication for my depression, because I don’t have asthma and I no longer suffer from depression.
5) Hopeful that as I continue this journey complete transformation is for me – I will be smaller, my body is not destined to be large, I will shop in the regular section.
6) At peace with my place in the universe and what God would have me do with my life on a daily basis. Just at peace. I have ceased fighting everything and everyone!
7) 18 weeks from now my body weights 220 pounds.
8) 18 weeks from now I will be running a 10K in one hour and 8 minutes – keeping my minute time to 11:30 in preparation for completing the Denver marathon in less than 3 hours.
9) 18 weeks from now looking at my after pictures I will see a healthy, well-conditioned body with 34 pounds less of body fat, stronger muscles, better posture. There will be bright eyes, no bags, a confident smile and a person who looks like their life is just beginning!

My Intentions

To take this this challenge all the way to the end . . .to finish this thing a transformed human being!

Who I'd Like to Inspire

I would like to be a healthy example to the kids I teach and those around me - I would like to inspire them to reach inside themselves and change.
